Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to make an appointment to view the nursery?

We advise you to make an appointment to view the nursery and meet the team. The nursery staff are always willing to show you around at a time that is convenient for all but we do ask you to avoid lunchtimes as you will miss the opportunity to see the activities on offer.

Can I bring my child to visit the nursery?

We recommend that you bring your child to visit the setting as this gives them a chance to meet the team and their peers.

What to expect when I visit the nursery?

A member of the team will meet you and show you around the indoor and outdoor areas. They will explain the daily running of the nursery and you will be given an opportunity to ask questions and discuss your child’s needs.

Will I be offered a settling in session?

Every child is offered an induction session for around an hour. During this time you can stay with your child or leave for a short period of time. We leave this up to your own discretion as you know your child best. If your child needs more than one induction session we will discuss this with you and book another session.

What does my child need to bring with them to nursery?

We suggest that your child has a backpack which contains a change of clothes, suitable clothing for the weather and if wearing nappies a supply of nappies. We ask you to bring a water bottle. Please ensure that these are all labelled with your child’s name.

Illness and Medication.

If your child is unwell, we advise that you keep your child at home.  Please wait 48 hours after sickness and diarrhoea before you return your child to nursery.

What will my child have to eat when at nursery?

We offer a hot meal at an additional cost that is cooked by the chef in the school kitchen. This is a healthy meal consisting of a main or vegetarian meal served with salad or vegetables and dessert or you can provide your child with a packed lunch. We are a nut free site so please be respectful of this.

Fruit and Vegetable snacks are available throughout the day. All food is eaten in the main classroom.

Food and Dietary Requirement.

Before your child starts at the nursery, you will be required to complete an allergy questionnaire.

Does my child have to wear uniform?

We have polo shirts, cardigans and sweatshirts in stock if you choose to buy them. We love doing messy activities so please do not send them in their best clothes. Aprons are provided during these activities, but children will get paint or glue on their clothing.

How and when will I receive invoices?

Invoices are sent out for the term. Fees are due either in full or in 2 equal payments. We accept payment by BACS, childcare vouchers and via the governments tax free scheme.

Can I book extra nursery sessions?

Extra sessions can be booked subject to availability.  Payment for extra non funded sessions is required in advance.

Can I swap days mid-term?

Unfortunately, this is not possible due to regulations regarding staff ratios.
